From Tarik El-Bashir of the Washington Post:

Gordon said he’s trying not to focus on the crowded lineup situation. But he also admitted that it’s tough not to think about it, and the possibility that he could find himself as an extra next season.

“It’s hard to say what’s going to happen right now,” he said. “We’ll see once things start to play out in camp. You’re always concerned. But I’m just going to go into camp hungry.”

While Gordon would obviously rather have his position sewn up, the Capitals organization has to be happy at the depth the team currently has.  It was only two years ago, that the team was essentially a one line team.
