From Tom Reed of the Columbus Dispatch:

When captain Rick Nash met with the local media last week one of his most interesting comments – beyond discussing his future with the club – was praising its off-season acquisition of “NHL players.”

“We got some NHL players who have some experience under their belts and have some size, skill and can score,” he said.

Nash strikes me as the type who chooses words carefully. Translation: “This season, we won’t be trying to get back into a playoff race in March with Joakim Lindstrom on the power play.”

The Blue Jackets are definitely heading in the right direction, which makes it no surprise that Rick Nash is pumped for 2008/09.  The Jackets will enter this season with realistic expectations of making the playoffs.
