Now that Foley has completed his second season with the Wolves, he’s on the verge of being introduced—OK, re-introduced—as the Hawks’ TV play-by-play man.
“Pat Foley is a legend. He is one of those unique announcers—he has a level of excitement in his call that really communicates with the fans.” Foley’s 25-year run with the Hawks ended in May 2006. He clashed with management, and observers say the Hawks’ miserable play drained some enthusiasm from his calls and affected his work ethic.

It’s nice to see the Blackhawks going back to their roots, and giving longtime announcer Foley the chance to call games for a franchise finally heading in the right direction. His on-air charisma should mesh quite well with Eddie Olzyck’s insightful colour commentary. Can these two form the best duo since Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon? Stay tuned Blackhawks fans!
