From the Denver Post:

Avalanche captain Joe Sakic will not play again this season.

The veteran center said after Thursday’s 3-2 Avs shootout loss to Dallas that his troublesome back isn’t strong enough to play in either of this weekend’s final two home games.

“It was getting closer and feels a lot better than it did before, but it just wasn’t there yet,” Sakic said.

Well no big surprise as there is no reason for Sakic to rush back to play 2 games with the possibility of getting re-injured.  Hopefully he can rehab this summer and be back to full strength.  Plus won’t he feel a lot better next season playing with Hejduk and Tavares (although the chances they get 1st pick overall are down to 14.2%).
