Despite dominating game 1 the Moose come into tonight’s game down 0-1 in the series as they just couldn’t solve Admirals goalie Devin Cooley and even when they did Milwaukee was able to keep re-taking the lead. They are going to need to keep that effort level with better finish if they want to earn a split heading back home.
Lineup news:
Just a couple of changes coming up for the Moose in game 2 of their five game series with the Admirals as we saw Henri Nikkanen and Bobby Lynch come in and out came Nick Hutchinson and Luke Johnson.
Moose lineup:
Barron-Gustafsson-Poganski
Malott-Suess-Eyssimont
Vesalainen-Nikkanen-Lynch
Polei-Maier-Jones
Samberg-Kovacevic
Chisholm-Gawanke
Heinola-Oligny
Berdin
Holm
Noteworthy:
The Moose must feel like they are watching the Bill Murray classic Groundhog Day as it was gonna be another one of those games when Devin Cooley stood on his head although it didn’t look like it would be that as the Admirals began the game on a 5-0 shot run.
However once the Moose started getting shots on net they didn’t really stop. They outshoot them 9-1 to close out the 1st period and then kept that going in the 2nd where they outshot the Admirals 22-3 which meant that they held a 31-4 edge after the initial flurry from Milwaukee.
Despite many chances the Moose just couldn’t solve Devin Cooley and that would hurt them as the Admirals, as they did last night, scored on just their 10th shot of the game capitalizing on mistakes made by the Moose to take a 1-0 lead.
Finally on the 43rd shot of the game by Manitoba they would tie the game with Berdin on the bench for the extra attacker. It was Morgan Barron going high glove side with 1:29 left in the 3rd period.
Just 45 seconds later and with 47 seconds left in regulation the Admirals scored the game-winning goal again taking advantage of another couple of Moose mistakes.
