With the home team down 2-1 and the Jets killing a penalty it had to be the Jets captain who tied the game with his 17th goal of the season (and the Jets 10th shorthanded goal). It was a beautiful pass by Dustin Byfuglien over to Ladd who made no mistake putting it past Niemi.
And the fans who didn’t really need an excuse to celebrate the captain jumped to their feet when the red light went off.
Not surprisingly the goal got a standing ovation from the home crowd as they watch what is potentially Andrew Ladd’s final home game in a Winnipeg uniform.
