Anaheim Ducks snatch victory late to beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 to spoil the end of the Moms Trip

The Jets could have escaped Anaheim with a win but they most certainly did not deserve it and in the end they did not as the Ducks won it in the last minute which spoils the perfection of the Moms Trip which drops the visitors to 23-10-1 on the season.

Notable:

400th game for Neal Pionk in a Jets jersey.

Nothing to like from the Jets in the first 20 minutes of the game aside from the play of Eric Comrie. Winnipeg was outshot 12-1 at one point and their first shot of the game didn’t come until there was

More of the same from Winnipeg in the 2nd as they didn’t get a shot for half the period and found themselves being outshot 6-0 and down 1-0 after the team abandoned the front of the net.

However, to the surprise of nobody the power play came through with Gabriel Vilardi getting his 14th of the season to tie the game. which was just the second shot of the period for Winnipeg which gives him 11 points (6G 5A) in his last eight games.

The PP remains red-hot scoring for the ninth time in the last six games.

Once again the Jets only took four shots in the middle frame although this time they only gave up 10 shots while killing off two penalties.

Winnipeg got off to a good start in the 3rd period as Kyle Connor borrowed Frank Costanza’s stop short move to create some time and space before he set up Mark Scheifele‘s 18th goal of the season.

Kyle Connor up to 23 assists on the season in 34 games. He had 27 last season in 65 games last year. On pace for 55  which would be a career high (to date it’s 49 in 2022-23). His passing is so good.

With 4:46 left in the 3rd the Ducks tied the game and then with 24 seconds to go the Ducks deservedly took the game back.

The Jets had a chance to tie the game as Gabriel Vilardi gets in alone but cannot get it to go and Winnipeg loses (deservedly so) 3-2 to the Ducks to conclude the road trip.

Multipoint Game:

Kyle Connor 2A
