When Jets PR announced this morning that Ville Heinola and David Gustafsson had chosen new numbers it was a pretty good indication that the team would be keeping them around for a little while this season.
Shortly thereafter Jets GM Kevin’s Cheveldayoff announced the team would be sending five guys to the Moose of the AHL which brought the roster down to 24.
They need to be compliant by 4 pm CT on Tuesday with a maximum roster of 23 players.
The 24 players at camp are:
Goalies (2): Laurent Brossoit, Connor Hellebuyck.
Defencemen (8): Anthony Bitetto, Tucker Poolman, Neal Pionk, Dmitry Kulikov, Ville Heinola, Josh Morrissey, Nathan Beaulieu and Sami Niku.
Forwards (14): Andrew Copp, Adam Lowry, Bryan Little, Mark Letestu, Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers, Jack Roslovic, Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele, Gabriel Bourque, Kyle Connor, Mason Appleton, Mathieu Perreault and David Gustafsson.
The Jets will have to make a decision on Little or Niku to be compliant by tomorrow.
Coming out of retirement at 70 to take control of another bench.
