Before we get into this afternoon links here is the 2011 Winnipeg Jets draft class:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets add seven new faces. I like that the prospects were aware of what happened in Winnipeg.
Globe and Mail: Jets push NHL to radical realignment. We’ve discussed this with a bunch of different scenarios but regardless of what happens, it should be interesting after our season in the East.
TSN: Jets happy with first NHL draft. Should be interesting as we see these kids develop.
Global Winnipeg: Hockey fans scoop up Jets merchandise. Just wait till the new jersey arrives, this city will go nuts.
Toronto Sun: Jets are active on Day 2. Too bad we were unable to get local prospect Michael St. Croix, who ended up drafted by the Rangers. Nice to see the front office wasn’t afraid to pull the trigger today.
Fox Sports: Byfuglien excited about NHL’s return to Winnipeg. And Winnipeg is excited to have Big Buff prowling the MTS Centre for the team.
Colorado Springs Gazette: Winnipeg makes CC defencesmans dreams come true. Glad that Harstad grew up without a favorite team. No need for divided loyalty.
Portage Online: Kasdorf to the Jets. Young goalie prospect who becomes the Portage Terriers first drafted player since 1971.
More Jets links and general NHL news after the jump.
CBC: Fans delighted with team’s name. Delighted might be a wee bit of an understatement. The Excel Energy Center was still full of guys in Jets gear on day 2, including Sports Radio 1290 Doc Tapper from On the Sidelines.
Blogs & NHL News:
Yahoo Sports: The Winners and Losers of the 2011 NHL draft. Winnipeg fans sure were the winners on draft day. Good to hear the Juicy Lucy is worth the trip.
USA Today: NHL draft’s 2nd day – trends and a trade that didn’t occur. Lots doing on day 2.
