  • The Sabres have locked up Jason Pominville to a five-year contract extension.  (Writer’s note: Terms not yet released but unless they are extremely out of line then this is a very good extension for Buffalo.  Pominville is underrated and is going to continue to get better.)
  • Five Hole Fanatics suggest that the Flames consider trading Daymond Langkow. (Writer’s note: Creative idea but not going to happen.)
  • More on “Boots” Del Biaggio from Stu Hackel at the New York Times. (Writer’s note: No pun intended on the beginning of that sentence but it seems like I was being creative.)
  • Jeff O’Neill has a better shot of making the Hurricanes now it just is not the way he wanted.
  • Zach Parise on his brother getting let go by the Devils organization.
  • Blues defenseman Erik Johnson got injured playing golf with his teammates and will miss the beginning of training camp.
  • Not surprisingly, Vinny Lecavalier is the new captain of the Lightning.
