Afternoon Delight: Pugilists and Prospects

  • Abel to Yzerman makes the case for Igin..Cros…Nied…Cleary to be the captain of Team Canada. Like we have said earlier, no shortage of leaders on this team. A team Cleary has yet to make.
  • Adrian Dater, writing over at Versus, lists his top 10 fighters.
  • Check out the new look On Goal Analysis, and drop the guys a line with your thoughts at shotongoal@ongoalanalysis.com. Site looks good guys.
  • Peter Forsberg played in a pre-season game last night for Modo, and is on Sweden’s initial list of players for the 2010 Olympics. I guess he will just keep trying til that ankle completely gives way.
  • Tom Lynn, blogging at The Hockey News, discusses the limitations of statistical analysis. Well said. Sometimes there is no substitute for seeing a player live.
  • Sorry for the generic link, but Hockey’s Future has the new batch of Top 20 prospects (for each team) out right now. Take a look. I always love looking back at old lists, to see how the players actually pan out.
  • Lowetide comments on the Mike Comrie to Edmonton speculation. Interesting idea here. While he is a bona-fide NHL’er, he has some bad history there and is another small body.
