In a sure sign that hockey season is indeed upon us, Marian Gaborik is out with a lower body injury. Hopefully for the Wild, Gaborik will be back quickly.

The KHL will investigate Alexei Cherepanov’s death. Forgive me for being flip, but Russian investigators don’t strike me as being the type to find much wrong with this situation.
Nikita Filatov is in and Jared Boll (Injury) for the Blue Jackets as they prepare for their home opener on Friday. I am sure the Columbus faithful are excited to see what Filatov can do, as there has been a buzz about his talent since he was drafted last June.

The World of Junior Hockey offers up the Canada West roster for the World Junior A Challenge. I suggest to Illegal Curve readers that you keep a close eye on this tournament. It is becoming an excellent place for scouts to watch high end talent.
