• In a sure sign that hockey season is indeed upon us, Marian Gaborik is out with a lower body injury. Hopefully for the Wild, Gaborik will be back quickly.
  • Stan Fischler talks Devils hockey.
  • The KHL will investigate Alexei Cherepanov’s death. Forgive me for being flip, but Russian investigators don’t strike me as being the type to find much wrong with this situation.
  • Nikita Filatov is in and Jared Boll (Injury) for the Blue Jackets as they prepare for their home opener on Friday. I am sure the Columbus faithful are excited to see what Filatov can do, as there has been a buzz about his talent since he was drafted last June.
  • Spector discusses the spate of early season injuries that have hit the NHL. This seems to happen every year. I wonder if its a case of players overtraining in the summer?
  • Despite rumblings that North Americans may avoid the KHL in the wake of the Cherepanov situation, Greg Wyshynski thinks the league should get a second chance. That may be, but if you are a player with a family, you might not want to take the risk with your health.
  • The World of Junior Hockey offers up the Canada West roster for the World Junior A Challenge. I suggest to Illegal Curve readers that you keep a close eye on this tournament. It is becoming an excellent place for scouts to watch high end talent.
