• Matthew Barnaby is taking Barry Melrose’s place on ESPN, so Melrose Rocks has a tale of the tape.
  • Teemu Selanne has signed a pro try contract with the Ducks. (Writer’s note: He obviously just wants to play and is waiting the Schenider trade out while skating with the team in the process. Although its funny how Schneider is under contract and isn’t at camp and Selanne isn’t but is.)
  • Alexander Semin hates the media.
  • Allan Muir of SI expects the NHL to expand into Canada before Europe.
  • Jes Golbez of the blog Hockey Rants and AOL Fanhouse has decided to end his blogging career.  (Writer’s note: He was one of the best reads out there.)
  • Mike Peca has bronchitis so he will be sidelined for the beginning of training camp.
  • Are the Stars turning Mike Modano into a winger? (Writer’s note: Not the worst idea I’ve ever heard.  With Richards’ passing skills, Modano could increase his goal totals while decreasing his defensive responsibility.  However, that may not be the case because Richards is that bad defensively and Modano would probably have to cover for him.)
  • Nathan Horton is going to be playing center this season for the Cats.
  • Marian Gaborik and his agent are going to meet with Wild management in Grand Forks.
  • Larry Robinson explains why he is not coaching behind the Devils’ bench anymore.
