Afternoon Delight

  • A simulation of the 2008/09 season on NHL 09 resulted in a Stanley Cup repeat for the Red Wings. So this basically tells us that the Wings are good on paper.
  • Bobby Ryan has done basically everything the Ducks have asked of him, which makes beginning his season in the AHL that much more difficult. He shouldn’t be in the AHL for very long.
  • Joe Pelletier runs down all the records that could possibly be broken this season.  The Brodeur one certainly stands out.
  • James Mirtle provides readers with information on the latest problems surrounding the Nashville ownership group.  If the Predators owners sue the NHL, this could get even uglier.
  • Part II of the Dave Schultz interview from the Puck Daddy.  Great series.
  • Robin Brownlee doesn’t feel as confident about the Oilers’ chances this season as he once did.  Even with Brownlee’s concerns, the Oilers should compete with the Wild and Flames for the Northwest Division title.
  • Ross McKeon with his power rankings heading into the season. The Sabres are way, way too low.
