Seems fitting that the Moose and Admirals would take their season long series to a 17th and final game after meeting 12 times in the regular season and now needing this fifth and deciding game.
Lineup news:
After a win of 5-2 and 7-3 in games 3 and 4 the Moose didn’t make any lineup changes which isn’t a big surprise. They kept the same D pairs and the same lines. For third straight game Jets prospect Daniel Torgersson took warm-up skate.
Moose lineup:
Malott-Suess-Poganski
Barron-Gustafsson-Eyssimont
Polei-Maier-Jones
Lynch-Hutchinson-Johnson
Samberg-Kovacevic
Chisholm-Gawanke
Heinola-Oligny
Berdin
Holm
Noteworthy:
The Moose got off to a sleepy start and the Admirals did not which forced goalie Mikhail Berdin to be sharp to begin this critical contest.
On the tenth shot of the period for the visitors (to the three Manitoba had) they opened the scoring after Mikhail Berdin couldn’t quite squeeze the puck and it ended up in front of him.
The home side was lucky to just be down by one after 20 minute but would have a penalty to kill off after Luke Johnson got hit with a delay of game penalty at the end of the 1st. It would prove costly however as Milwaukee would score on the PP to open the middle frame to take a 2-0 lead.
Prospect Morgan Barron cut the Moose deficit in half as he scored for the fourth straight game with assists from Ville Heinola and Luke Johnson. No assist for David Gustafsson but a good screen in front took away Ingram’s eyes.
The Moose tried to muster up a comeback but fell short and the Admirals were able to hold on for a 2-1 lead to take the best of five series by a final of three games to two and Milwaukee will advance to the Central Conference Finals.
