A potential Winnipeg Jets target is off the board as Brock Boeser signs a seven-year deal with the Canucks

Since the news made it seem more and more likely that Nikolaj Ehlers was set to walk away from Winnipeg as a UFA the talk around the watercooler switched to the Jets targeting Canucks UFA Brock Boeser in free agency. As recently as Monday insiders like Chris Johnston were saying Boeser was the Jets “Plan A”.

But like all great plans they sometimes stop before they get going as it was reported today by Dan Murphy of Sportsnet that Boeser would stay with the team that drafted him with the Canucks giving him a seven year deal with an AAV of 7.25.

The Minnesotan scored 25 goals last season for Vancouver and 40 the season prior to that one.
