A look at Winnipeg Jets 2014 Development Camp – forwards

We’ve looked at the goalies and defencemen who will be attending the upcoming Jets Development Camp and today we turn our focus to the forward group.  There will be 20 prospects at the MTS IcePlex in the various groups.

Axel Blomqvist:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with both the Victoria Royals and Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL) playing in 65 games finishing with 24 goals and 32 assists for 56 points.

Austen Brassard:  Was drafted in the 5th round (149th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the St. John’s IceCaps (AHL) playing in 29 games finishing with 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points.

Chase De Leo:  Was drafted in the 4th round (99th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Portland Winterhawks (WHL) playing in 72 games finishing with 39 goals and 42 assists for 81 points.

Nikolaj Ehlers:  Was drafted in the 1st round (9th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) playing in 63 games finishing with 49 goals and 55 assists for 104 points.

C.J. Franklin: Was drafted in the 5th round (129th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) playing in 53 games finishing with 22 goals and 29 assists for 51 points.

Brendan Harms:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the Bemidji State Beavers (WCHA) playing in 38 games finishing with 7 goals and 14 assists for 21 points.

Justin Hickman:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) playing in 67 games finishing with 22 goals and 24 assists for 46 points.  He also played five games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) scoring one goal.

Scott Kosmachuk:  Was drafted in the 3rd round (70th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Guelph Storm (OHL) playing in 68 games finishing with 49 goals and 52 assists for 101 points.

Kalle Kossila:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the St. Cloud State Huskies (NCHC) playing in 38 games finishing with 13 goals and 27 assists for 40 points.

Tanner Lane:  Was drafted in the 6th round (160th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the U. of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks (NCHC) playing in 34 games finishing with 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points.

J.C. Lipon:  Was drafted in the 3rd round (91st overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the St. John’s IceCaps (AHL) playing in 72 games finishing with 9 goals and 33 assists for 42 points.

Jimmy Lodge:  Was drafted in the 3rd round (84th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Saginaw Spirit (OHL) playing in 59 games finishing with 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points.

Adam Lowry:  Was drafted in the 3rd round (67th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the St. John’s IceCaps (AHL) playing in 64 games finishing with 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points.

Ryan Olsen:  Was drafted in the 6th round (160th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Kelowna Rockets (WHL) playing in 71 games finishing with 30 goals and 34 assists for 64 points.

Nic Petan:  Was drafted in the 2nd round (43rd overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Portland Winterhawks (WHL) playing in 63 games finishing with 35 goals and 78 assists for 113 points.

Reid Sturos:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the Michigan State Huskies (WCHA) playing in 30 games finishing with 8 goals and 13 assists for 21 points.

Blake Tatchell:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the U. of Alaska-Anchorage Nanooks (WCHA) playing in 38 games finishing with 7 goals and 25 assists for 32 points.

Matt Ustaski:  Was drafted in the 7th round (192nd overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Langley Rivermen (BCHL) playing in 54 games finishing with 29 goals and 20 assists for 49 points.  He will be playing the upcoming season for the University of Wisconsin Badgers in the NCAA (Big 10)

Frank Vatrano:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the UMass-Amherst Minutemen (Hockey East) playing in 1 game finishing with 0 goals and 0 assists for 0 points.  The NCAA ruled that Vatrano was ineligible for the 2013-14 regular season due to an admissions problem.

Ben Walker:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with both the Victoria Royals (WHL) playing in 71 games finishing with 24 goals and 30 assists for 54 points.

We also can confirm that the Jets invited undrafted Karon Kuhlman to camp.
