A look at Winnipeg Jets 2014 Development Camp – defence

After looking at the five goalies who will be attending Jets Development Camp next week, we switch our focus to the 12 defencemen who will make up the group of prospects in Winnipeg.

Taylor Fleming:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the Western Michigan Broncos of the NCAA (NCHC) playing in 40 games finishing with 1 goal and 6 assists for 7 points.

Ralfs Freibergs:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the Bowling Green Falcons of the NCAA (WCHA) playing in 37 games finishing with 3 goals and 19 assists for 22 points.

Jack Glover:  Was drafted in the 3rd round (69th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the U.S. National Under-18 Team (USHL) playing in 24 games finishing with 1 goal and 9 assists for10 points.

Shane Hanna:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the Michgan Tech Huskies of the NCAA (WCHA) playing in 40 games finishing with 4 goals and 19 assists for 23 points.

Aaron Harstad:  Was drafted in the 7th round (187th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Colorado College Tigers of the NCAA (NCHC) playing in 37 games finishing with 2 goals and 7 assists for 9 points.

Marcus Karlstrom:  Was drafted in the 7th round (194th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with AIK J20 (SuperElit) playing in 44 games finishing with 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points.

Jan Kostalek:  Was drafted in the 4th round (114th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL) playing in 55 games finishing with 5 goals and 22 assists for 27 points.

Kevin Lohan:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the University of Michigan Wolverines of the NCAA (Big 10) playing in 16 games finishing with 0 goals and 1 assist for 1 point.  Missed 19 games with a lower body injury last season.

Nelson Nogier:  Was drafted in the 4th round (101st overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Saskatoon Blades (WHL) playing in 37 games finishing with 1 goal and 5 assists for6 points.  According to the StarPhoenix Nogier’s 2013-14 season was derailed because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder which required season-ending surgery this past January.

Tucker Poolman:  Was drafted in the 5th round (127th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Omaha Lancers (USHL) playing in 58 games finishing with 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points.

Peter Stoykewych:  Was drafted in the 7th round (199th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.  Spent last season with the Colorado College Tigers of the NCAA (NCHC) playing in 37 games finishing with 1 goal and 8 assists for 9 points.

Nolan Zajac:  Undrafted.  Spent last season with the University of Denver Pioneers of the NCAA (NCHC) playing in 42 games finishing with 5 goals and 18 assists for 23 points.
