While there is a lot of excitement for the roster the Winnipeg Jets will have this season and anticipation the big club could challenge for the Stanley Cup when the 2021-22 season winds down there is also a lot of anticipation for what is happening down on the farm. The Manitoba Moose are chock-full of prospects this season and given the additions and pro returnees should have a very competitive squad in the AHL.
Moose opening day roster (28):
Goalies (2): Mikhail Berdin and Arvid Holm.
Defencemen (9): Johnny Kovacevic, Leon Gawanke, Jimmy Oligny, Hayden Shaw, Ville Heinola, Nelson Nogier, Trent Bourque, Simon Lundmark and Declan Chisholm.
Forwards (17): Haralds Egle, Nicholas Jones, Evan Polei, Dominic Toninato, David Gustafsson, Kristian Reichel, Austin Poganski, Mikey Eyssimont, C.J. Suess, Luke Johnson, Isaac Johnson, Jeff Malott, Cole Maier, Greg Meireles, Todd Burgess, Bobby Lynch and Thomas Caron.
Injured: Dylan Samberg (who is still technically with the Jets but will be with the Moose once he is healthy)
Jets draft picks:
Almost the entire D group are Jets draft picks from veteran Nelson Nogier (2014 4th) all the way to Simon Lundmark (2019 2nd) with the ones drafted in-between including Johnny Kovacevic (2017 3rd), Leon Gawanke (2017 5th), Ville Heinola (2019 1st), Declan Chisholm (2018 5th) as well as the aforementioned but injured Dylan Samberg (2017 2nd).
In addition both goalies were drafted by Winnipeg with Mikhail Berdin (2016 6th) and Arvid Holm (2017 6th) between the pipes.
The smallest number of draft picks is at forwards with two in David Gustafsson (2018 2nd) and CJ Suess (2014 5th) although there is an expectation that 2020 1st rounder Cole Perfetti will soon be back with Manitoba.
