Wild 3rd period as Moose & Wranglers combine for six goals; Manitoba takes it 6-5 over Calgary

The Moose know it will be a tall task to make the playoffs but it is not impossible. Of course to do that they’ll have to continue to bank points like they’ve done so far on this homestand (coming into the game they had three of four).

Lineup news:

With Dylan Coughlan ready to return to the lineup after missing five games it meant Dylan Anhorn got the bump and with Ashton Sautner back it meant Dawson Barteaux was also out. Winnipegger Chris Driedger backing up for his first game in a Manitoba jersey.

Lines & D pairs:

Shaw– Toninato –AJF
Wagner – JAD – Lambert
Suess – King – Empey
Liwiski – Zhilkin – Chyzowski

Sautner– Salomonsson
Phillips – Coghlan
Lundmark – Bauer

DiVincentiis

Notable:

A heavy and I mean heavy, all offence and no defence tilt between Tyrel Bauer and Alex Gallant.

Six goals in his last nine games for the captain as Dominic Toninato got his 14th of the season to open the scoring for the Moose.

Jets prospect Fabian Wagner (2022 6th) getting this goal scoring thing under his belt as he gets his second in as many games.

The monkey is off his back as Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin (2022 3rd) gets his first of the season to give the Moose a 3-2 lead.

When we spoke to veteran Moose forward Mason Shaw this week he spoke about how important it was to keep on grinding to pick up points. Nice work by him and captain Dominic Toninato to tie the game 4-4 in the 3rd. That’s his 12th goal of the season.

First in antlers for Isaak Phillips as his blast from the point gave the home team a 5-4 lead in the 3rd period.

The Moose capitalized on the PP late in the 3rd as Mason Shaw gets his second of the game as he tips the Brad Lambert shot. It proved to be GWG as Manitoba takes it 6-5 over Calgary.

Home team has five of six points on homestand. They are eight points back of Rockford with 18 games remaining.

Multi-point game:

Mason Shaw 2G
Dominic Toninato 1G 1A
