32 Thoughts Podcast | Winnipeg Jets Nikolaj Ehlers “wants to be in a situation where he can win”

Folks in Winnipeg know the closer that soon to be UFA Nikolaj Ehlers gets to becoming a free agent on July 1st the more likely it seems that he will be wearing a new jersey next season.

Today on the latest edition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast featuring Kyle Bukauskas and Elliotte Friedman the insider shared this thought on the dynamic Dane:

“Ehlers is another one I’ve just heard a little bit here and there. But the one thing I’ve heard that Ehlers prefers, he wants to be in a situation where he can win and I think that’s more important to him than number. We’ll see if that proves to be the case but I’ve heard that about him. Winnipeg is obviously a situation where I think you can win, but Jets fans know at times the question there has been about first line or top opportunity. But I’ve heard that Ehlers and a chance to win is pretty big on his list.”

He certainly would have a chance to win on the team that drafted him back in 2014 but there are also others where he could do so as well. Of course if he secures his big deal then you’d think usage would be less of a concern since then the focus would simply be on winning a Cup.
