The Jets had a rather large influx of players this offseason including three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews added to the mix this summer. His familiar/iconic number 19 was worn by David Gustafsson the last three seasons but he was reportedly very happy to give it up to the local legend. The Gus Bus, as he is known, will wear 41 which was a number he wore early in his career with Winnipeg.

Another player swapping for a familiar jersey number is defenceman Ville Heinola who wore 14 in the NHL. He will wear 34 which was the number he wore in the AHL with the Moose. He’s given it up to newcomer and long-time NHL veteran Gustav Nyquist.
Parker Ford is ditching his old number 73 he wore during his NHL debut for his familiar (with Manitoba) number 25.
With respect to the remaining newcomers they will shake out as follows:
Tanner Pearson will wear 70 (last worn by Joe Morrow in 2018-19)
Cole Koepke will wear 45 (last worn by Declan Chisholm in 2022-23)
Walker Duehr will wear 71 (last worn by AJF in 2023-24)
Phil Di Giuseppe will wear 89 (only player to wear it was Sam Gagner in 2022-23)
Samuel Fagemo will wear 16 (last worn by Shawn Matthias in 2017-18)
Kale Clague will wear 56 (only player to wear it was Marko Dano in 2017-18)
Isaac Poulter will wear 30 (last worn by Laurent Brossoit in 2020-21)
