Manitoba Moose health and roster update

An update on the roster and health of the Manitoba Moose.

Lipon 1

The Manitoba Moose are in the midst of a six-game California road trip but those who follow the Jets AHL affiliate recognize that the team does not look as it did even a month ago.

A number of players have been recalled to the parent club which is also dealing with a rash of injuries (or were reassigned in the case of Vesalainen), including:

Sami Niku (recalled on November 10th);
Kristian Vesalainen (reassigned on November 22nd);
Mason Appleton (recalled on November 26th);
Cam Schilling (recalled on November 28th);
Nelson Nogier (recalled on December 1st).

Similar to the parent club the Moose have also been hit by a number of significant injuries, including:

Nic Kerdiles last played on October 13th vs Belleville (indefinite);
Tucker Poolman last played on November 23rd vs Iowa (week-to-week);
Luke Green last played on November 23rd vs Iowa (day-to-day);
JC Lipon last played on November 28th vs San Diego (week-to-week);
Marko Dano last played on November 30th vs San Diego (day-to-day);
Kristian Reichel last played on November 30th vs San Diego (day-to-day).

Opportunity knocketh for some players who were with the ECHL affiliate in Jacksonville, including:

Ryan White (signed PTO with Moose on October 23rd);
Alexis D’Aoust (recalled to Moose on November 1st);
Justin Woods (loaned from Jacksonville on November 25th);
Jacob Cederholm (recalled to Moose on November 25th);
Mikhail Berdin (reassigned to Moose on November 27th);
Jack Glover (signed PTO with Moose on November 29th);
Cam Maclise (recalled to Moose on December 1st).

For comparison sake this was the Manitoba Moose roster on November 10th when they beat the Griffins 6-2 at Bell MTS Place:

Vesalainen-Suess-Appleton
Griffith-Harkins-Lipon
Poirier-Spacek-D’Aoust
McKenzie-Girard-White

Stanley-Niku
Schilling-Poolman
Stoykewych-Nogier

Comrie
Appleby

Here is the roster from the 4-0 loss to the Condors in Bakersfield on December 1st:

McGinn-Shaw-Griffith
Harkins-Suess-White
Porier-Spacek-D’Aoust
McKenzie-Girard-Maclise

Stanley-Cederholm
Stoykewych-Glover
Woods-Beaudoin

Berdin
Comrie

That is a lot of change in less than a month.  The Moose will be back in action on Wednesday so we will have to wait and see what happens with the big club and if any of the injured players (i.e. Green or Dano) are sufficiently healed in time to play.

Manitoba sits 6th in the Central Division with a 10-11-1-0 record but are just two points back of 4th place Chicago.
