The Winnipeg Jets announced that they have re-signed UFA forward Matt Halischuk to a one-year, two-way contract worth $725,000 at the NHL level.

Halischuk, 26 years old, spent last season with the Jets, tallying 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) in 46 games.

With his signing taken into account, the Jets now have 23 players under NHL contract (13 forwards, 8 defenseman and 2 goaltenders), and approximately $8.5 million dollars in salary cap space available.

  1. Voice of Reason says:

    Ladd, Little, Frolik
    Byfuglien, Perrault, Wheeler
    Kane, Sheifele, Halischuk
    Tangradi, Slater, Thorburn

    Enstrom Bogosian
    Stuart Trouba
    Clitsome Postma
    Pardy Ellerby

    Ladd Little Wheeler
    Byfuglien Enstrom

    Kane Scheifele Frolik
    Trouba, Postma

This team is big and fast on the wings, they are improved in the face off circle and under Maurice have been better in their own end.

The past few years the jets have started slow, gotten hot & then cooled off. I am looking for more consistent results as the team continues to mature.

In particular, Pavelec has been completely absent from the Czech media this year, which could mean that he comes into camp ready to rock.

The central looks tough, but I think the Avs are going to come back to earth this year, the Preds are improved, but I have questions about how there veteran signings are going to mesh into the new system being implemented under Lavriolette.

In my view if the Jets can improve their in division record, stay consistent on the road and beat up the east, they have a chance to compete for one of the two wildcard spots.

Its going to be a great year, i cant wait to see these guys back on the ice and in the mix!
