Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Evander Kane fuels trade rumoursIt doesn’t seem to take much to get that fire started and yesterday was no different as an interview in BC resonated all the way to Manitoba.  You can listen to the audio in the link below.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Coach Paul Maurice studying players’ skill setsHe wont be judging the prospects too harshly this week but you can be that he is paying attention and listening to the impressions from his coaches on the ice.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets head coach Paul Maurice on a learning mission at development campIt really is more a meet and greet and an opportunity to introduce the young guns to the organization and the city.

Winnipeg Sun:  Hellebuyck ready to take the next stepHe sure sounds like he is ready to take the next step in his development.

CBC:  Blossoming brotherhood – goalies gel at Jets development campAn interesting relationship as the five are challenging for a limited number of spots yet all get along.

Illegal Curve:  Team 1040 Vancouver interview with Evander Kane (audio).  A bit of controversy struck  as winger Evander Kane spoke on BC radio and was asked directly if he wants to be a member of the Winnipeg Jets.

Day 2 of Development Camp Replay:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice (audio).  Talking about the prospects on the ice.  Does he see the game trending towards smaller players?  What does he pass a long to young players about becoming a professional and the priorities.  Level of commitment in today’s game towards fitness.  How important is it for him to see these guys at this stage?  Getting to know the prospects.  What does he need to see from the prospects?  Does he warn the prospects about the difficulty of fall camp?

Illegal Curve:  Scott Kosmachuk (audio).  Any difference to his approach as a pro instead of as a junior?  Does he have experience he can apply for this?  Different mindset this time around?  Was he able to learn something from the Memorial Cup run?  Has he gotten over it?  Did his coaches help him get ready for the next level?  What is it going to take for him to take the next step? Does he have more confidence in himself as a goal scorer?

Illegal Curve:  Jason Kasdorf (audio).  Recovering from his surgery?  The recovery process.  When did he return to practice?  When was he injured?  How does he feel now?  How does RPI look for upcoming year?  What is his mindset for next year?  What does he take from an experience like this?  Will this procedure allow him to be worry free?

Illegal Curve:  Connor Hellebuyck (audio).  What have the first couple of days been like?  What was it like being around Tim Thomas?  Any good tips?  What is it like being a pro?  How does he think the game has grown?  Being around the IceCaps.

Illegal Curve:  Camp Guide.  If you’d like to know which player is in which group or what numbers they are wearing we have you covered.

What bugs me about Kane’s comments is that he had the opportunity to put Jets fans at ease by saying “I want to be a Jet” or “I want to win in Winnipeg” or something along those lines that fall into the “saying the right things” cliché of professional sports. Kane did not do this and instead he angered Jets fan by dodging the question, which led to more trade speculation.
the thing is if you don’t want to be in Winnipeg Jet then go the Chevvy and request a trade. If you want to be a Jet then say it and the media/fan base/players/coaching staff will support you.
I’ve been a huge Kane supporter since the Jets moved and I want to see him score 40 plus next to Scheifle for years to come, but if he wants to be moved then move him.
    Thoughts?
