Breaking News: Jets Re-sign RW Chris Thorburn

Late Monday night, mere hours before he was set to reach unrestricted free agency, the Jets announced that they have re-signed RW Chris Thorburn to a 3 year, $3.6 million dollar contract, with a yearly salary cap charge of $1.2 million dollars.

Thorburn, who earned $850,000 last season, had 2 goals, and 9 assists for 11 points in 55 games. He has spent the last 7 years with Winnipeg/Atlanta, and will be 34 years old at the conclusion of the contract.

    Is it just me or have the Jets management completely lost their mind. What did Thorburn do to earn a 50% increase in salary. I repeat have the jets management completely lost their minds!!! The Jets desparately need to upgrade their bottom 6 but apparently giving a huge raise to a guy who couldn’t make an impact on an Ahl team is good enough for Chevy. This signing actually scares me!!!

    He’s a solid defensive player. Doesn’t back down from anybody. But I think 1.2M is a bit rich.
