Winnipeg Free Press: It’s do or die vs. already dead. The Jets have the opportunity to play spoiler to the Leafs chances to get ahead of Columbus in the race for a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Winnipeg Free Press: Maurice wants back with Jets next season. To be a fly on the wall in the Maurice family kitchen when they discuss the opportunity after the season ends.
Winnipeg Free Press: Ladd fears time just ‘floating by’. Hopefully the captain can turn that fear and disappointment into something for next year.
Winnipeg Sun: Familiar result for Jets but they believe they’re on right track. Sounds like the coach is getting out his surgeon scalpel to start cutting away the parts that are no longer necessary and get this team healthy again. It won’t be until next season but the process is underway.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets need to get a good look at the goaltending future. No time like the present to see how the young gun can handle pressure playing in his home Province and against the team he grew up idolizing.
Globe and Mail: A hopeful and humane spring for the Winnipeg Jets. Erik Duhatschek spent some time with the Jets last week and had an opportunity to chat with bench boss Maurice about his future.
TSN: Draft Lottery Tracker. The Jets were idle last night but they moved to the 6th spot (they were 7th yesterday) and their % of winning the draft increased to 6.2% (from 4.7%).
National Post: James Reimer says ‘it’s time to stop the puck’. The pressure is on the Manitoba product as the injury to Jonathan Bernier has made him the guy to backstop this team to the playoffs.
The Telegram: Falcons pull out OT win on IceCaps. It was a wild game for the Jets AHL affiliate. It saw the debut of Josh Morrissey and back up goalie Eric Comrie who came into the game in relief when St. John’s was down 3-0. Even wilder the team overcame a 5-1 defecit to take a 6-5 lead. Ultimately a high powered Springfield team tied it up with 17 seconds to go in the 3rd period.
