January 30, 2014 Coach Maurice

Coach Maurice –  Style of Canucks play discussion.  Did he watch the Cancuks/Hawks play and what did he see?  His involvement in potential trades.  His input/opinion on players for trades.  How would he rate the experiment of Buff at forward?

Coach Quotes:

On the Jets – “What I really like about this group is it’s age first.  It’s such a young team that you can come in and feel like you can have a real impact on the structure of the team and the team going forward”.

On trades – “I know that Kevin has a very strong idea of what he wants this team to look like in terms of style of play and we agree on that completely.  So even without having a conversation about anything going forward I can say we are completely on the same page as to what we would like our team to look like”.

On Buff as fwd experiment – “I like the way he is playing.  He is into the game on the bench.  He is finishing checks.  He is engaged in what he is doing.  He doesn’t at all look like a player whose waiting for this experiment not to work so he can go back to where he wants to”.

More on Buff – “He is a forward right now.  Until he makes us a better team by going on defence, then he stays there right now”.
