Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers
Note: Tune into NHL Mid-Week tonight from 6-8 pm on TSN 1290 Winnipeg for all the latest Jets and NHL news.
Sportsnet: Winnipeg surprising the NHL’s elite. Jets jumped up the power rankings to 16th and get some talk in the preamble.
Winnipeg Free Press: Maurice magic has limitations. It was certainly not a banner effort by Winnipeg last night.
Winnipeg Free Press: Thorburn bulges the twine. You could tell by the reaction of his teammates when the sniper finally got a chance to put one in the net how happy they were for him. It may have been the longest tip in in Jets 2.0 history.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets lose to Preds. Both teams had an opportunity to take this game as they went into the 3rd period tied at 3. Ultimately the Preds pulled off the victory. Ken assess the game.
Winnipeg Sun: Penalty put Jets in big hole. It was a pretty selfish penalty to take when the Jets could ill afford to give the Predators another chance. Coach Maurice clearly wasn’t pleased about it in his post-game comments. Kirk also touches on Pavelec’s second thoughts (re; bringing family to Olympics), Trouba and Jones promising futures, remembering Rick Rypien and around the glass.
Winnipeg Sun: Predators bump Jets back to the basement. For all the good the Jets have done lately there is nothing like a loss to a team lower in the standings which leapfrogs them ahead of you to illustrate how far you still have to go to get anywhere close to the playoffs.
TSN: Dull ending. The game had some flashes but for the most part it wasn’t exactly a barn burner at the MTS Centre last night. Dennis Beyak gives you his thoughts from his perch high above the ice surface.
The Tennessean: Preds edge Jets 4-3. Joshua Cooper gives you the Nashville perspective in the win over Winnipeg last night.
CBC: Jets win streak raises fans playoffs hopes. I suspect last night’s loss brought it all back to reality. The margin for error is razor thin after the poor start to the season.
Illegal Curve: Kane out of the lineup with hand infection. The Jets delivered the bad news following the skate yesterday morning. Listen to coach Maurice audio discussing the injury.
Predators 4 Jets 3:
Winnipeg Jets: Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Chris Thorburn and Zach Bogosian.
Nashville Predators: Roman Josi, Colin Wilson, Seth Jones and Coach Trotz.
Coach Maurice post-game presser. Assessment of the game. On the goals against. On need to be more disciplined. Focus moving forward. Being run hard (minutes played). On Setoguchi’s penalty.
Post-game podcast from the Press box: Host Drew Mindell and Analyst Richard Pollock break down the Jets play against the Predators.
Jets on a Deadline. Game recaps, post-game audio, video highlights and the NHL.com 3 Stars of the night.
