Note:  The Jets and Leafs play at MTS Centre and the Illegal Curve Hockey Show will be starting at our usual noon start time (CST) until 3 pm on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  Guests:  Michael Traikos (National Post), Scott Powers (ESPN Chicago) and Tom Lynn/Kyle Kosior (Veritas Hockey).

Jets news:

Toronto Star:  Q and A with former Leafs coach Paul Maurice.   He is asked about his initial impressions, difficulty when he wasn’t coaching, the KHL coaching experience, comparing his time as Leafs and Jets bench boss, his time on the TSN panel and on why he accepted a contract until the end of the season.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Sharks blank JetsThe Jets are still feeling positive about themselves and they will face a Toronto team that is licking their wounds following a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of the Stars last night.

Winnipeg Free Press:  San Jose’s grand experimentWhen the Jets had Buff in a more prominent role I could see him being satisfied but will the forcibly converted defenceman be happy as a 3rd line winger whose role hasn’t been too significant the past couple of games?

Winnipeg Free Press:  Perfect day for players & popsWhile we think professional athletes have tons of opportunities to see their loved ones many go a long time without spending quality time together so this is a good chance for them to hang out and reconnect.

Winnipeg Sun:  Streak endsAll good things must come to an end and while they didn’t escape from California with four points they put forth a pretty valiant effort last night against a very good Sharks team.

Winnipeg Sun:  Forward thinkingWhile Burns has certainly taken advantage of the opportunity I am still not convinced that Buff is going to be happy playing forward.

Winnipeg Sun:  Along for the rideIt was a nice opportunity to give the family members a taste of the life of an NHL players.  They got to see the highs and lows of all things involved with road travel.
