Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Can’t blame MontoyaHe was pretty solid and with the exception of the seeing eye shot third goal, played pretty well in the loss.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets go postal in OttawaAnd I don’t suspect it had anything to do with the price of stamps increasing this month.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Sochi just what Wheels needsGary discusses the reasons why the Olympics will be a great opportunity for the Jets winger.

Winnipeg Sun:  Loss clears path for Pavelec’s returnWell good news for Ondrej is he gets a chance to redeem himself against an easy opponent in the Boston Bruins.  Oh Oh.  Won’t be an easy return to the pipes for the Jets #1 netminder.

Winnipeg Sun:  Senators make Jets pay for bad habitsThe Jets D made a number of pretty bad turnovers that resulted in goals against.  The forwards also didn’t help matters on many of those opportunities.

TSN:  Senators extend winning streak at expense of Jets.   Dennis Beyak gives you his thoughts from high above the ice surface at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.

Winnipeg Sun:  TSN analyst O’Neill criticizes WinnipegUnfortunately why people feel the need to defend our city against some blowhard is beyond me.  Had he simply said free agents don’t want to sign with Winnipeg because the team isn’t a Stanley Cup contender that would have been sufficient (and not incorrect).  Some asked us why we didn’t address his comments.  The truth is this we don’t feel the need to discuss every time a person gives the city kudos and similarly we don’t have to address negative comments by one individual.  We shouldn’t be so thin skinned (or insecure) in this city that an inane comment by someone from afar can send us collectively over the edge.

Illegal Curve:  Blake Wheeler speaks about making Team USAHe spoke about being selected to Team USA.  When/How did he find out?  What went through his mind when he heard?  Pressure off or more pressure?    How does it compare to World Juniors or World Championship?  Has he spoken to any of his Olympic teammates?  Who is he close with on the team.  Thoughts on guys (Okposo, Ryan) who didn’t make the team.  Any idea of what his role will be?  Thoughts on going to Russia.  Additional sense of satisfaction playing way onto the team.
