Note:  Reminder that tomorrow’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg will start bright and early at 8 AM and run until 11 AM as the early start time for the Jets and Hawks game pushes the show earlier.  In addition yours truly will be joining Ez and Drew to talk some puck.

Note II:  Today is November 1st, which means the kick off of  Movember and once again the Illegal Curve team will be getting behind this worthwhile cause.  This year Ezra and I will once again be growing mustaches and we are joined by Richard to help raise awareness.  If you would like to donate to the team, here is a link.  The first event is a shave off at 10:30 AM today.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  The Jets are a frustrated bunch after a less-than-satisfying start to the seasonFans would have quite a bit to worry about if this team was content with being below .500 and out of the playoffs.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Crunching the numbers Tim compares the numbers from this season to last to take a look at where the Jets have improved/regressed.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Noel audioMark Stuart injury update.  Jacob Trouba sightings.  Jim Slater update (not day to day).  Ben Chairot’s recall.  Peluso & Thorburn talk.  Assessment of his team.  Dealing with frustration.  Finding solutions is fun part of coaching.  What has he seen from Enstrom?  Thoughts on Enstrom’s decision to not play in Olympics.  Talk about Blake Wheeler.  (Some great quotes transcribed in the post).

Illegal Curve:  Players audio post-practiceHear from Blake Wheeler, Bryan Little, Devin Setoguchi, Tobias Enstrom and Ben Chairot.

IceCaps news:

The Telegram:  Klingberg, Pasquale lead IceCaps over PiratesGood to see Klingberg putting up some points early on in the season.

Opponent (Blackhawks) news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Captain Serious Jonathan Toews is seriously pumped about return to WinnipegThis game was voted the most anticipated game in our pre-season poll and there is hardly any question as to why that is.  Tracy Myers of CSN had a great quote from Patrick Sharp about the importance of this game to the Hawks captain “Keith, myself and Toews were all born in Winnipeg. Somehow, I think Duncs and I will be overshadowed.”

ESPN Chicago:  Khabibulin: I have to do betterMany fans of the Jets 1.0 fondly remember the Bulin wall for his impressive performances for the Jets back in the early 90’s.  While he is certainly not the goalie he was back then, impressive nonetheless that he continues to play in the NHL all these years later.
