Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers
Note: Today on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg, we have our Regular Season Preview Show with coverage from noon to 3 pm. Guests: Shane Hindy (TSN-Jets) to preview Jets, Kevin Allen (USA Today) to preview the Eastern Conference and Eric Duhatschek (The Globe and Mail) to preview the Western Conference.
Note II: I will be participating in the Health Sciences Centre Foundation Celebrity Human Race with Team Qualico throughout the day. We have Julie Benz from Dexter/Defience who will be joining our team as we attempt to win the 1st ever race held in the Peg’. Feel free to message me @icdave with your comments during the race.
Winnipeg Free Press: Three Jets facing huge disappointment. Fans are prognosticating like crazy the final opening day roster, which we will know soon enough.
Winnipeg Free Press: Trouba -The future is wow. The defensive core of this team is going to hit new heights in the coming years as Trouba comes into his own. Already many are talking about his high level of play and he is barely out of college.
Winnipeg Free Press: WELCOME to the jungle. The West is an entirely different animal than the East and it will be a challenge and adjustment for the Jets as they get settled in their new division.
Winnipeg Free Press: Bruins blank Jets in final pre-season tilt. The Bruins are just a talented team that seem to have the Jets number and once again showed which team recently won the Stanley Cup and made it back to the Finals last season.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets fall to Bruins in pre-season finale. Not exactly a banner ending to the pre-season as the Jets only won one game, while dropping one in OT and another two in a SO. About the only good news the Jets got last night was that Dustin Byfuglien was feeling fine after a 3rd period scare.
StarPhoenix: Bruins paste Jets in pre-season finale. Not a great showing in Saskatchewan yesterday.
Globe and Mail: Jets arrive in the West looking to earn respect and playoff spot. This team is quickly become the Rodney Dangerfield of the NHL in that they “can’t get no respect”. Captain Ladd and company are done talking about it and want to show the rest of the league what they believe themselves, that this squad is good enough to make the playoffs.
CBC: Jets go West in search of playoff spot. Tim Wharnsby turns his attention to the Jets as the CBC looks at the seven Canadian teams. He takes a look at the details, answers three questions, looks at one player on the hot seat, training camp and an interesting stat.
Winnipeg Free Press: Players pick collector pins. For memorabilia fans these pins will be must have additions to any collection. The players had fun picking each others pins or in some cases, their own.
Jets on a Deadline – Bruins 5 Jets 0:
Illegal Curve: Coach Noel post-game. Discussing the loss. Top priority over next three days? Mistakes team is making. Did last two games make it easier to make the next cuts?
