TSN: Jets complete Ontario trip with game against Sens. We won’t know if Burmistrov will be back in the lineup until pre-game skate as the Jets won’t be skating prior to the game today.
Winnipeg Free Press: 26 games later, he’s Wright on. While it seems like an excuse to say that a players play shouldn’t simply be measured in goals and assists, this seems especially true for James Wright who has done so many defensive things well that his lack of scoring was overlooked.
Winnipeg Free Press: Bogo rides to rescue. He is just such a dynamic player and while you prefer to see him using his hands to score a goal, his teammates have to appreciate seeing him defend Kane. Thankfully after 17 minutes off the ice, his hands were good enough to score his first shootout goal of his career.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets are th-th-third? No need to pinch yourselves Jets fans, it is true. Through a tremendous effort the last month, your Winnipeg Jets have thrust themselves into the playoff picture and haven’t given any indication that they are slowing down.
Winnipeg Sun: Wright finally gets it right. No bigger stage for the Saskatoon native to score his first goal as a member of the Jets and his first NHL goal since the 2009-10 season when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Winnipeg Sun: Ondrej Pavelec’s hot streak continues. For someone who doesn’t like shootouts you could have fooled us as he stopped nine of ten Toronto shots last night. He has been simply sensational the past month as he has helped to led his team into the 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference.
Toronto Sun: Jets flying away too soon. Have to agree with Mike’s lament that is it a real shame that this budding rivalry will snuffed out by realignment. The Jets and Leafs games this season have been exciting, intense, chippy and a lot of fun for fans, players and media a like.
CBC: Jets, Leafs flying in opposite directions. The Jets appear to be rising to the top of the East and it does seem as if the Leafs are heading the other way. Interestingly enough if the playoffs ended today, the Jets and Leafs would battle it out in the first round.
Jets on a Deadline – Jets 5 Leafs 4 in shootout:
Coach Noel post-game from ACC. Little too exciting for his liking. How did he arrive at Bogosian in shootout? Thoughts on Bogosian stepping in? Second period talk. Jumping past Carolina into 3rd in Southeast. James Wright scoring 1st goal. Play of 4th line.
Jets on a Deadline. Game recaps, post-game quotes from coach and players, video highlights and the NHL.com 3 Stars of the night.
Jets affiliate and prospect news:
The Telegram: IceCaps rally in third period to beat Bulldogs. Unlike the parent club, the IceCaps had to come from behind Saturday night, and were able to overcome a deficit to win. The victory gave St. John’s a of sweep Hamilton during this weekend on the Rock.
The Telegram: St. John’s signs Saponari to ATO. A draft pick of the Atlanta Thrashers he was the first Georgia born and raised player drafted in the NHL.
– Mark Scheifele did not play his team’s final game of the regular season last night as the Barrie Colts beat the Niagara IceDogs three to two. He finishes the regular season as follows: 45 games, 39 goals, 40 assists, 79 points, +27 with 30 PIM.
AnnArbour.com: Michigan hockey sweeps Western Michigan and advances to CCHA semis. While Jacob Trouba didn’t show up on the stat sheet in his team’s win last night, it was an impressive victory for the Wolverines, who will now play in their 24th straight CCHA semis. They play next Saturday at Joe Louis Arena against Notre Dame.
Jets opposition (Senators) news:
Ottawa Sun: By the numbers. A look at how the two teams match-up.
Ottawa Citizen: Sens-Sabres post-game report. Similar to the Jets, the Sens were in action yesterday and have a quick turnaround for today’s match-up with Winnipeg. Here are some notes and quotes following the action in Buffalo.
Tribune-Review: Unlike Guerin in 2009, Iginla does not fit with Pens. For Pens fans getting Iggy jerseys made up, hold your horses.
CBC: Ron McLean calls for end to spraying goalies in shootouts. What do you think? Is this move fair or foul?
