I would agree that it appears Burmistrov has had his chances limited due to age. I’m sure coaches don’t want to put a significant amount of pressure on the youngster.

All signs indicate that Pavelec should improve with time, hopefully the same is for E. Kane. But with the way the NHL R&D camps are going, who knows if we will even have a shootout in a couple seasons.

Burmi is the first player that comes to mind when I was piecing together an imaginary line up. History suggests Wheeler needs to stay in the mix.

I was also very surprised to see how ineffective Kane was, but I wonder if that evens out over time. Stape might warrant a look if he regularly lights it up in practice. Nobody has really shown themselves to be ahead of the pack.

I am sure Pavelec will improve with time.

Burmistrov has the stickhandling skills that I would think would make him pretty effective in faking out a goalie in a shootout. He wasn’t used much last year, being so young. I’ve always been curious to see how Bogosian would do in the shootout, with his offensive skill set, but he’s never had an opportunity. The Thrashers shootout records in year’s past were much better than last year due to the fact that they got rid of their best shooter, Slava Kozlov. Erik Christiansen is also a good shooter the Thrashers got rid of, which might have been the reason for the NYR good record.
