What is your reasoning? This is what I'm hearing:

"Even if there ARE 13 Eastern Conference teams that are better than us, that has no impact on the Jets' chances of making the playoffs this year."

Is that what you're trying to say? You do know that only 8 teams from the East make it, right? LOLGood luck with that math, man. Just enjoy the season and hope for the best.

Sadly, I agree. As I stated in the commentary for the other article..

If the young players take a big step forward, the team will too. If not, we are looking at more of the same. The biggest changes to the roster have been in the bottom rung or in the AHL level talents.

The only change to the top end of the roster is bringing in Fehr to replace Anthony Stewart. Fehr probably has more upside, but he is hurt. Ultimately, not a big change.

If Kane, Burm and Bogo can develop into legit play makers...
If Pavelec continues to improve...
If Wheeler can play a whole season at the Pace he finished...
If guys in their mid twenties can continue to step forward...
If the rest of the conference gets weaker...
If crowd noise wins games...

The team MIGHT make the playoffs...

If that doesn't happen or even only half of it happens, this team could be looking at another lottery pick.

Obviously, I would like to see Kane put up 40 goals with Burm centering the top line. I would like to see Pavelec contend for the Vezina and Bogo the Noriss, but I would also rather have realistic expectations. Better to be pleasantly surprised, then let down.

This is not a team that SHOULD make the playoffs, but hey MAY if things go well.

Unfortunately I think these five reasons are much more likely to be what happens this season, than the five reasons posted earlier pointing to why the Jets will make the playoffs. Way too many "ifs" in the equation.
