Their are dozens of jersey concepts out there already. The ones that Brown denied are my favorite of the ones I’ve seen.

Jets logo compared to the rest? History aside, I would say the jets logo is top 2 among the Canadian logos.

    The other 1 being………

If you had to rank from 1 to 6 Tim, what would that look like?

  • http://www.facebook.com/tim.bonnar Tim Bonnar

Honestly, I would only really put the Nucks logo in the conversation and more so because I like this one:

    Completely ignoring the history,

Nucks and Jets would be top 2.

    Montreal would be third.

    Oilers and Flames would follow.

Toronto and Ottawa would be at the bottom.

I think the log would be far better if they included “Winnipeg” written inside the bottom of thr roundel.  It’s just missing something.

If i had to rank the current logos, id have to say:
    Leafs
    Habs
    Jets
    Flames
    Oilers
    Canucks
    Sens
The ones that got to top 2 spots did so because they are just so classic, and unchanged for so long.  Which is why the Jets took third, because it looks timeless.  Ottawa is just to over the top.  Its cartoon-ish.  Sorry Sens fans, no hate!

I tried to ignore the history and look at is as what is most visually appealing to me if we were starting over.

    OK, lets try again then:
    Flames
    Jets
    Canucks
    Habs
    Oilers
    Leafs
    Sens

Yeah I have seen some doctored versions with writing in the roundel that looked pretty nice, but I think it stands up pretty well as it.

Seeing them side by side pretty much kill what people were saying about the new logo looking like a Leafs logo.It has more in common with this one: http://www.ctaa.ca/logos/mLogo.jpg

Ignoring hockey history – just based on the logo:

    1. Jets
    2. Oilers
    3. Senators
    4. Flames
    5. Maple Leafs
    6. Canucks
    7. Canadians

Based on logo, ignoring hockey history, and looking at what the logo communicates clearly and in a stylised way:

    1. Vancouver
    2. Calgary
    3. Winnipeg
    4. Edmonton
    5. Toronto
    6. Montreal
    7. Ottawa

The Canuck is a breed of Pacific shark/killer whale?

  • http://twitter.com/Adam_Toy Adam Toy

Haha, no. But the artwork mimics Haida art, both on the west coast.
Still trying to figure out wth a Canuck is…

  • Stephen Smith

Maybe a W instead of the maple leaf would have made it a little distinctive. Nucks and sens would be the only two logos I don’t really care for. THis is pretty close to how I feel:

    Leafs
    Habs
    Jets
    Oilers
    Flames
    Canucks
    Sens

The only reason the Leafs’ crest gets a pass is because of a tradition. If it was introduced today it would be made fun of like crazy. It’s quite dull. However, it’s part of hockey history/tradition and must stay.

Okay, in my opinion, here’s my rankings:

Habs: kinda looks like a toilet seat, but no crest has as much history. Plus, it ain’t bad.
Calgary: Even though they stole it from Atlanta, the Flames allows for great visuals (although the Flaming A of the original franchise looked better).
Winnipeg: Most symetrical and loaded with meaning. Plus, it ain’t bad. Not the best in the league but nowhere near the worst.
Sens: Current version way better than the original Trojan condom crest.
Canucks: Love the uniforms, luke warm on the logo. Stick with the Killer Whale, but don’t have it bursting through a “C”… looks silly. Also, looks bad in white against their coloured uniforms.
    Toronto: See my original comment.
Edmonton: Hey, it’s just a drip with a very 1970′s style font. I feel like giving that logo a kleenex… it reminds me of a runny nose!

Completely putting aside my own team allegiances, ignoring both history AND knowledge of the uniforms, judging SOLELY on the primary logos, my rankings go:

    1. Jets
    2. Oilers
    3. Flames
    4. Canucks
    5. Leafs
    6. Habs
    7. Sens
