News 1130:  Ex-NHL great Peter Stastny says Quebec should have been before WinnipegAs the article pointed out, Winnipeg held a number of advantages (MTS Centre already built and mostly private money used to build it) over Quebec City.  So perhaps sentimentally Stastny can hold that opinion, but practically it doesn’t fly.

Fox Business:  What’s in a name?  Pro Sports teams say big bucks.  True North made the right decision when it comes to the name they chose.

York Region:  Brennan and the Jets.  As with most of the draft picks, they will all likely season in various leagues (Jr./NCAA) for the next year or two before getting the call.

Cranbrook Daily Townsman:  Shaw joins Jets in didn’t dare dream job. Always nice to return back to your home to work for the professional hockey team.

NHL News:

ESPN:  Former NHL player Paul Kariya announces retirementOne can only imagine how good his numbers would have been had he not been plagued with so many injuries.

TSN:  Habs trade Wisniewski’s rights to Columbus.  Someone is looking to make a splash in the Central.

Sun-Sentinel:  Panthers sign center Tomas Kopecky.  They still have a long way to go to get to the Cap floor.

SB Nation Washington:  Semyon Varlamov To Leave Washington Capitals, Head To KHL.  What does Washington then do in net if he heads to the KHL?

SB Nation Arizona:  Coyotes ownership mess takes another step back.  Don’t see how this gets resolved.

Don’t be surprised if Brad Richards is wearing Panthers Red next season.  He may want to go to a winner, but the money will likely be pretty attractive.

  • With all due respect to Peter Stastny he should have limited his comments to “I feel Quebec deserves an NHL team”.  No need to mention Winnipeg.

  • I loved the way Jim Hughson would say “Kariya” in the old EA Sports NHL games

Jets are giving Teemu an offer and PHI offering Stamkos 12yr 115mil??

Teemu won’t sign here but it’s worth a shot. I think id rather see him make a run for the cup with ANA and just come here as a guest.
