Actually, I have one apology to Chipman and TNSE. I originally believed that they were working to find a way to come up with another name that wasn't the 'Jets', even suggesting that the secrecy surrounding the debate was masking a personal reasoning for wanting to go with something else.

They weren't, they were being deliberative with various proposals and eventually when with what the fans wanted. They even decided against going with a compromise of 'Manitoba Jets' because they apparently thought it would sully the powerful symbolism and irreverence amongst Winnipeggers and Manitobans for the brand.

My bad.

When Couturier was still available I was disappointed the Jets didn't take him but hearing what Ducky said about Scheifele relieved that. Hawerchuk's opinion is good enough for me.

The Islanders, the Senators and then the Jets passed up on Couturier for a reason. I'm not sure what it is, but several clubs decided that other centres were better choices then he was.

The Barrie Colts this year were unimaginably bad in the OHL and Scheifele put out 75 points regardless, while making his team mates look better around him. He's got a lot of upside, and isn't a boom/bust pick like Strome comes across as I feel. He'll require a couple of years in the OHL/AHL.I'm for one, am increasingly happy with this pick and am giving Chevy the benefit of the doubt.

I thought Chipman seemed a bit reserved in regards to the name release. I really think they wanted to go with something else, but True North as an organization decided that they couldn't go against public opinion on that one. People in the 'Peg are really pumped about seeing -their- Jets back and I figure Chipman and other will see the value in going with what was synonymous with Winnipeg NHL hockey.

Apparently the reason why the Jets couldn't use a retro was related to 'logistical' issues. Not really sure what Guthie meant by that.

I can't even describe the emotion I'm feeling right now..

At the #7 selection I was fist-pumping, then Chipman said "Winnipeg Jets", basically crying tears of joy/passion(?) now... Then Chevy says "from the Barrie Colts"...wait....what?? I'm so confused. Couturier was right freaking there for us... All we can do is hope, HOPE, that Chevy knows what he is doing.. We could've traded down for Scheifele. I guess was hoping for a C to step in right away, and I would've bought a Couturier jersey.

Sinking feeling in my stomach about that pick, but it is amazing to officially have the JETS back and lets hope Scheifele develops nicely.

/end rant
