So true. Imagine the outcry if baseball did a homerun derby. All the purists would yell and scream and say you are ruining the game–which would be true. The difference is, they listen to the purists in baseball.

It seems silly a team can miss the playoffs because of something only marginally related to hockey.

Imagine if other sports took a similar stance: instead of a baseball game going to extra innings there was a homerun derby, or a dunk/3 point competition in basketball (Actually a game of H-O-R-S-E would be amazing).

Hate the shootout. Always have and always will. What was wrong with a tie game? If a team cannot beat another team in 65 minutes, give each team a point and call it a day. I don’t like three point games either.

The NHL needs its games on an easily accesible, nation-wide network much more than it needs shootouts.
