Part of me thinks of Phil Esposito and how he said that allowing Rheaume to play was a publicity stunt to raise awareness of the expansion Lightning. Are the Steel doing something similar? This is likely the most press they have ever received. That was the cynic in me.

I personally am all for letting talent govern. I hope she does well.

I think it is great to see a woman striving to be the best, regardless of the genders involved. She seems determined, dedicated and I wish her every success in her goalie endeavours.

Should women play in Men's league and vice versa? I'm not saying that to be contrary, but I wonder why one is acceptable and one is not?

Personally I feel that she should be allowed to play based on her abilities. If she makes the Steel, good for her.

It just seems to be an interesting dichotomy.

Always interesting to see how we women are able to break stereotypes and show that we are fully able to play a "man's game". Does that mean I think it should be fully integrated, not at all, but it is nice to see that she is given the opportunity to display her skills. From what I have read it seems like those are considerable.

Good luck to you.
