Johnny, I think you are right about the style of play. Martin teams wait for mistakes and worry defense-first, hardly an attack style. I personally prefer DeBoer’s style and it did work well last season. Although I feel like the loss of Jokinen and the addition of Ballard (not really Boynton because he and the coach went at it a lot), combined with the maturation of Bouwmeester were contributing factors as well.

Good luck with JM there. He was a pretty uninspiring coach here in SoFla. Look at the difference between this year’s Panthers and last year’s Panthers. Yes, they both missed the playoffs, but the team’s attitude was completely different. JM’s Panthers played not to lose and consequently they played tentatively every time they had a lead. We never wanted to see the team go into the third with a two goal lead because it guaranteed a loss. Pete DeBoer’s Panthers played to win. They didn’t always win, but they took very few games off.
