Donald Brashear suspended for six games

From via Japers’ Rink:

Washington forward Donald Brashear has been suspended for six games by the National Hockey League and will miss Tuesday’s Game 7 of the Capitals’ Eastern Conference Quarterfinal round series against the New York Rangers for his action both prior to, and during, Sunday’s Game 6.

Read the story from JP’s site here.

Rightfully so.  The NHL has begun to crackdown heavily on pre-game actions and Brashear was taped doing so.  So, that is no surprise.  As for the hit on Betts, he broke his orbital bone as a result and the hit was plain uncalled for.  This suspension is certainly warranted.

  • As reported on last night’s IC. Always ahead of the Curve….

  • Apparently ESPN, the Worldwide leader in Sports initally reported that Mike Green was also facing a suspension. Someone called saying they were from the Washington Post and gave them false information and instead of fact checking they reported it on Sportscenter. And to think just a few weeks ago I was touting them as the place for the NHL to be.
