To my eye, Lundqvist is just not “on”. He’s unsure of himself. Kiss of death for a goalie.

Got some fast utility guys up front, and they’re playing well.

I always said Staal is a stud, but I never dreamed Torts would be the perfect coach for him. He’s really going to fly with Torts’ “Safe is death.” philosophy. His O-side will develop and he’s got a lot to bring.

But “thin” doesn’t begin to cover it for the Rangers’ O.

If Lundqvist finds his groove (not likely — Torts is as much the wrong coach for him as he is the right coach for Staal), and Theodore crashes (by no means without precedence, but not this year, I think) the Rangers have a shot. To win a game. Maybe two if Washington gets overconfident.

Caps 4-1. Absolute max 4-2. They won’t bow out in the 1st round this year. But if they blow out the Rangers EASILY in four straight it’ll be bad news for them in the long run.
