Darrren Jensen (Flyers) and Al Jensen (Capitals).

You sir, are correct. Well done Bob.

  • Bob Roberts

    Thank you.

Now, do you know which two goalies with the same last name faced each other and which teams they played for the last time before the Jensens?

BONUS: And what made that meeting even more unique?

  • http://www.illegalcurve.com david

81-82: Don Edwards (Buffalo) & Gary Edwards (St. Louis & Pittsburgh).

And in 80-81: Ken Holland (Hartford) & Rob Holland (Pittsburgh) as well as Al Smith (Colorado) & Billy Smith (New York Islanders).

And finally in 79-80: You had a trifecta of Smith’s. Al Smith (Hartford), Billy Smith (New York Islanders) and Gary Smith (Winnipeg).

My guess is the unique factor is that they were the first brothers facing each other in goal??

  • Bob Roberts

And Dave and Ken Dryden too!

    Well done Encyclopedia Brown.

Thanks. Interestingly Ken Dryden (Montreal) and Dave Dryden (Buffalo) last played against each other in 73-74, as Dave Dryden went over to the WHA’s Chicago Cougars and then Edmonton Oilers until they joined the NHL and by that time Ken Dryden had retired (78-79).
