NHL Morning Papers (Saturday Edition): Leafs linked to Pronger, Coyotes CEO steps down and is the Malkin/Ovechkin controversy over?

Here are the morning papers for Saturday the 24th of January:

• Ducks defenseman Kent Huskins is now going to be out an extra 4-6 weeks because his foot injury was healing how the team wanted.  Mark Whicker wouldn’t be surprised if Randy Carlyle is fired in Anaheim.
• Steve Conroy tells readers about Marc Savard becoming a complete player.  Meantime, in about two weeks, Joe Thornton makes his second appearance in Boston since his trade to the Sharks.
• The NHLPA’s decision to renew the current CBA was the right decision, writes Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News.  The city of Buffalo is looking forward to watching Patrick Kane make the highlight reel at the All-Star game.
• The NHL can always count on Jarome Iginla showing up for the annual All-Star game.
• Even though Ray Whitney has more points than Eric Staal, he has no illusions of being at the All-Star weekend instead of the young center.
• Brian Campbell certainly appreciates playing amongst the NHL’s best players this weekend.
• Dave Krieger of the Rocky Mountain News with his take on the calls to end fighting in the NHL.
• The Columbus Dispatch with an interesting article on Steve Mason’s first NHL season.  Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets are going to move Jason Chimera to center.
• Stars legend Mike Modano surely appreciates the Habs’ history, considering he was taught to play the game by some of the team’s legendary players.  Rookie James Neal is lucky enough to be mentored by Modano.
• The NHL has suspended Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom for skipping the All-Star game.  Wings GM Ken Holland is not happy with this decision.  The Wings can be better in the season’s second half, writes Dave Dye of the Detroit News. 
• Sheldon Souray has a meeting with Colin Campbell this weekend to discuss wearing his supportive wrist guard while fighting.
• Michael Frolik was ecstatic when he was told he was playing in the NHL’s YoungStars Game.
• The city of Montreal is receiving former Habs defenseman Sheldon Souray really well.  Were the 1959-60 version of the Habs the best Canadiens team ever?  By the way, Vincent Lecavalier wouldn’t turn down a chance to play for Les Habitants.
• Zach Parise has become an NHL star, writes Larry Brooks.
• Greg Logan of Newsday is thinking about the draft as he writes about the Islanders at the All-Star break.
• Larry Brooks commends the Rangers’ penalty-killing effort.
• The Ottawa Sun writers give you their take on the Senators post-break.  Allen Panzeri reviews the play the Senators have received from management all the way through the entire roster.
• Daniel Briere believes he can return to the Flyers lineup within 4-5 weeks.  Jeff Carter is very excited to be at All-Star weekend.  Remember that guy who smoke bombed the ice during a Flyers game back in late October?  He has been charged.
• Coyotes CEO Jeff Shumway has stepped down in the desert.
• By showing up in Montreal this weekend, Sidney Crosby is back in the NHL’s good books.  Have Alex Ovechkin Evgeni Malkin mended fences?
• Todd McLellan gets an A+ for his work with San Jose so far this season.
• The first year in the NHL has been a learning experience for Steve Stamkos.
• Are the Leafs interested in Chris Pronger?  Apparently the NHLPA wants a second team in Toronto.
• Alex Ovechkin gives the Capitals more street cred in Montreal.
