- The Rangers put on a lackluster performance last night, getting shut out by Marc-Andre Fleury and the Penguins last night 3-0. Larry Brooks of the NY Post feels that the Rangers had a great five game roadtrip going 3-1-1 but unfortunately had to end it with a lousy game.
- The Penguins accquired Matthieu Garon to help push M.A. Fleury to a new level, he vowed to never let in a goal again and didn’t last night shutting out the Rangers 3- 0. Evegni Malkin had an accidental hit last night on Rangers’ foreward Nikolai Zherdev.
- After taking a hit from Alexander Ovechkin, Dennis Wideman sat out practice for the Bruins. The Bruins have faced a number of injuries right now including the following players who wont play today: Andrew Ference, Aaron Ward, Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic, Marco Sturm and Phil Kessel.
- Admist a five game losing streak, Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford is not looking to make any trades. Tonight, Paul Maurice returns to coach in Toronto for the first time, this time for the opposing Canes.
- Speaking of losing streaks, the Islanders are currently in the middle of a ten game losing streak. Lucky for them, they get to face the first place Capitals tonight.
- The Senators are taking whatever points they can get right now. Allen Panzeri notes that the Sens currently are 11 points back of the “Tavares Cup”
- With Danny Briere returning to the Flyers’, Luca Sbisa is the latest salary cap casualty.
- Brad Richards’ makes his first return tonight to Tampa. As awful as the Lightning are right now, do they at least get some grace period?
