With our faithful leader Richy indisposed, you are subjected to my version of the Morning Papers. They may be slightly abridged due to time constraints, but I will try and add some more articles throughout the course of the day.

In Ottawa tonight, the Sens will try and go for three in a row against the cross-province rival Montreal Canadiens. It also appears to be the end of the Martin Gerber era in Canada’s capital.

Red Fisher has a typically fascinating article in today’s Montreal Gazette, this time about Jacques Plante, and his introduction of the goalie mask.

Here’s a stunner. The Leafs lost. To inferior competition. Which I didn’t even know existed.

Damien Cox reports that Doug Gilmour has come full circle. (Apparently full circle means a 3rd wife).

The Globe and Mail polls its hockey writers for the surprises and disappointments thus far in the NHL season.

Darryl Sutter is not upset that Dion Phaneuf was not selected to play in Montreal as an all star.

The Saturday Hockey Feature reminisces of the Flames move from Atlanta to Calgary.

The Oilers persevered and defeated the Avs last night three to two.

Glenn Anderson’s jersey is going to be retired prior to Sunday’s Oilers game.

The Canucks are going through and trying to fight some mid season doldrums.

A sense of normalcy has returned to the Lightning dressing room.

Paul Maurice is stressing intensity in an effort to improve the fortunes of the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Buffalo Sabres equipment man has reached his 3000th game.

Fluto Shinzawa with some morning notes prior to the Bruins game in Washington.

The Rangers pulled off a victory last night with many of their dad’s in attendance.

The Devils scored two goals in one minute thirteen seconds to defeat the Blue Jackets

There may be a Western Conference finals preview finals preview tonight in San Jose as the Red Wings meet the Sharks.

Koho blew the call on the NJ GWG. No, the net wasn’t off its moorings; TO made that call correctly.

Koho should’ve blown the play dead when he lost sight of the puck for your proverbial two-Mississippi after Clarkson completed is wraparound attempt and before the third poke at Mason’s pads pushed the puck free.

Barring Xray vision, he couldn’t have seen the puck until it was in the back of the net from where he was standing.

That certainly wasn’t your “quick whistle”. Not even a late whistle. That was a “blown call” whistle.

But that’s one of them bounces everyone talks about, I guess.
