  • The Atlanta Thrashers have traded Brent Skinner to the Islanders for Junior Lessard. I want to see an interesting trade!
  • Rand Simon with a little All-Star humour. Time to let the voting deal go, I think.
  • The weekly Hot List from The Hockey News. Be sure to check this out if you are into the draft.
  • Jim Kelley isn’t all that excited about the Flames. Maybe not, but they should have their way in the NW.
  • The death of hockey player Don Sanderson has prompted a rule change in the OHL. The OHL, to their credit, are always quick to address a need.
  • From the Rink with some bad news for the Coyotes, and worse news for those hoping for a return to Winnipeg. Yikes, things are not looking good in the desert.
  • An NCAA hockey roundup from Going 5 Hole.
  • Mikos

From the Rink – “it’s completely unreasonable to assume that a city of 650,000 with a mediocre economy (and that is fighting like mad to keep its youngsters within the province)…”

I think its completely reasonable to assume that Mr. Mirtle has spent too much time in Toronto.

I understand Mirtle’s point but I disagree with it. At the end of the day, I think the study of a possible return to Winnipeg would need to be far, far more complex to come to that conclusion.

I am with you guys here. The point that is being missed is that despite the size of the cities and the depth of their corporate base, hockey is not selling in Miami, Phoenix, Atlanta…

Nixing a move to Winnipeg without consideration of that fact is an oversight, in my opinion. Despite the obvious differences, I think the NHL should heed the the CFL’s example. Play to your strong markets and flourish.
