NHL Morning Papers (Monday Edition): Andy McDonald fractures his leg, MacTavish is very unhappy with Dustin Penner and Redden faces former teammates

Here are the morning papers for Monday the 17th of November:

• With the injury to Francois Beauchemin, the silver lining is that the Ducks were able to call up both Brett Festerling and Bobby Ryan.  The Ducks got off to a good start with their newcomers in the line-up by recording a 2-0 victory over Los Angeles.
• The Thrashers reverted back to their old struggling form last night versus Philadelphia, writes Mike Knobler.
• It is going to be hard to replace Andrew Ference’s minutes on the Bruins’ blue line, writes Fluto Shinzawa.  The Bruins are going to try to make up for their disappointing loss at New York on Saturday with a win tonight versus Toronto.
• It looks like Ales Kotalik will be out of the Sabres line-up for at least two weeks with hamstring issues.
• The Flames believe they are going to turn their defensive fortunes around.
• The Hurricanes matched the Lightning’s emotion on Sunday and came back to record an important 3-2 shootout victory over Rick Tocchet and Company.
• The Blackhawks were disappointed that they could not hold on to a third period lead versus the Sharks on Sunday.
• Both Joe Sakic and Ben Guite will miss the Avalanche’s game on Tuesday at Calgary.
• The Blue Jackets have an awful power play but they are looking to rectify their power play problems with in-house answers.
• Stars GM Brett Hull thinks a change of scenary is just what the doctor orderer for Darryl Sydor.
• Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall seems to have found his comfort zone.  According to Mike Babcock, the Wings need to keep things a lot more simple on home-ice.
• Oilers coach Craig MacTavish calls out Dustin Penner for his poor play and poor conditioning.  Meantime, call-up Liax Reddox played well enough to get another start in Detroit tonight.
• Panthers defenseman Jay Bouwmeester has still yet to score this season.  Meanwhile, the Panthers are trying to work with Richard Zednik to improve his consistency.
• Chris Foster of the L.A. Times provides readers with the two different perspectives of the Ducks and Kings.
• Wild defenseman Kurtis Foster still has a ways to go in his recovery but he is making progress, writes Michael Russo.
• The Habs recorded what can only be termed as an ugly victory last night in St. Louis, writes Pat Hickey.
• The Predators are happy to be back home but know the task ahead of them, as San Jose visiting Music City tonight.
• The Devils need more offensive production from their defense, writes Mark Everson of the NY Post.
• Tonight’s game would have a far more interesting storyline if Rick DiPietro was opposing Roberto Luongo at the Nassau Coliseum instead of Joey MacDonald.
• Wade Redden is starting to find his groove in New York, coincidentally just in time for his first game against Ottawa tonight at MSG.  While Redden is finding is game, Michal Rozsival has become the MSG whipping boy.  Larry Brooks gives his take on both Redden and Rozsival.
• Here are the storylines for tonight’s Senators tilt versus the Rangers.  Instead of practice yesterday, coach Craig Hartsburg had one-one-one meetings with his entire team.
• The Flyers, on the back of Simon Gagne’s three point night, defeated Atlanta 4-3 on Sunday.  The Flyers were tired yesterday but that did not stop the team from gutting out a victory over the streaking Thrashers.  The Flyers are going to unveil their new retro jerseys tomorrow.
• Dave Molinari explains the Sydor-for-Boucher deal to a Penguins fan.  The addition of Boucher should give the Penguins an added element on their power play.
• The Sharks’ game in Chicago last night wasn’t a coach’s dream, but the Sharks were still happy to record a 6-5 road victory.
• The Blues not only lost yesterday’s game to Montreal, but they lost Andy McDonald to a fractured leg.
• Sure the team lost in his debut, but Rick Tocchet was not unhappy with his team’s play at Carolina on Sunday.  Meanwhile, former Bolts head coach Barry Melrose says the players in Tampa just didn’t want to play for him.
• Cliff Fletcher is fully willing to hand over the managerial reigns to Brian Burke.  Gary Loewen of the Toronto Sun on why Brian Burke and the Leafs are good for each other.
• The Canucks are headed on a road trip that sees them play four games in a five and a half days.
